About PEOPLE'S CHOICE
TOM ORR started CASCADE Inspection
and Engineering Services in 2010. In 2012, he changed the business name
to PEOPLE'S CHOICE.
He has been
involved in the construction industry for over 25 years. He spent four years prior to
starting CIES working for an engineering firm
learning the ins and outs of investigative engineering. Tom's
professional experience includes investigations related to cause and
origin, construction defects, and code compliance. He has background in
single and multi-story wood and concrete construction including
framing, foundations, concrete flat work and retaining walls,
structural masonry, rough-in plumbing, mechanical and electrical. His
technical experience give him the knowledge to provide thorough and
accurate reports to clients concerning construction defects, code
compliance, structural failure and personal injury.
Tom grew up in the south and began working odd jobs in construction for
his father, who was a contractor. He spent a great deal of his after
school and weekend time building and remodeling homes. He has continued
his interest in the industry by doing remodeling on his own home and
those of several friends and relatives.
Tom spent 20 years in the United States Army serving as a helicopter
test pilot. He earned a BS degree in Professional Aeronautics and
Engineering from Embry-Riddle University. He completed the Home Inspector
Licensing Course at Bates Technical College. He is a Licensed Home
Inspector and Licensed Structural Pest Inspector in the state of Washington. Tom is a Certified Infrared Thermographer (CIT). Tom is an FHA Certified 203k Renovation Consultant. He has taken a number of courses from FEMA in disaster
recovery services. Tom keeps his knowledge current by taking continuing education courses.
